Andalusia, Spain The Tawny Pipit breeds from central / southern Europe and north-west Africa through Russia, Turkey and Afghanistan to southern Siberia and extreme north-western China. It is a fairly large, slim pipit with an upright stance similar to wagtails. The tail, legs and bill are all
relatively long. The breast is buff and unstreaked in adult birds while the belly is white. There are thin but discernible malar and moustachial
stripes.
The song is a disyllabic or trisyllabic note repeated at regular intervals of 1 to 3 seconds. |
