|Pampas Deer (Ozotoceros bezoarticus)
|Emas National Park, Goiás, Brazil
The Pampas Deer is an animal of open savannas and cerrado which used to be found in most of the natural grasslands of South America south of the Amazon. Unfortunately habitat loss and hunting has wiped it out from most of its former range.
|The extent of the hunting can be measured by the fact that in 1880 61,401 Pampas Deer skins were exported from Buenos Aires.|
