Chilean name: Caití
The Andean Avocet is distributed from
central Peru through western Bolivia to northern Chile and north-western
Argentina. It is found on or near saline lakes and ponds in the Andes
between about 2,500 and 5,000 metres.
|It is unmistakable with its long, up-turned bill and its white body contrasting strongly with the browny-black of the wings, back and tail.|
