|Andean Negrito Lessonia oreas
Chilean name: Colegial del norte
|Lauca N.P., Chile
The Andean Negrito is distributed in the Andes of central and southern Peru, northern Chile, western Bolivia and northwestern Argentina. It is found at between 3,500 and 4,500 metres at lake edges and other wetlands including bofedales.
|The male, seen here in photo 1, is very similar to Austral Negrito L. rufa but the back is a lighter rufous and the wings in flight are whitish on the primaries in both sexes as can be seen in photo 3. The female (photos 2 and 3) is much darker than the female Austral Negrito.|
