The Blackish-blue Seedeater is distributed mainly in the Atlantic Rain Forest of south-east Brazil, Paraguay and northern Argentina with one or two records further north in Brazil. See the distribution map at xeno-canto. It is one of the small group of seedeaters that follow the flowering of bamboo.
