|Double-crested Cormorant (Phalacrocorax auritas)
|Cayo Coco, Cuba
The Double-crested Cormorant is distributed on the Pacific coast of North America from southern Alaska to Mexico and in the Gulf States of the USACuba and the Bahamas. It also breeds inland in North America.
|It is black with a greenish sheen. The bare skin on the face and throat is orange. It is difficult to see the crest far less the fact that it is double but, in flight, it has a characteristic kink in the neck.
It feeds almost exclusively on fish.
