Brazilian name: Sabiá-do-banhado
The Great Pampa-finch is distributed from south-east Brazil to central Argentina and central Bolivia. It is found in areas with tall grass and shrubs often in marshy areas such as near Cassino, Rio Grande do Sul where photos 4 and 5 were taken.
|It is a large finch with a
conspicuous orange bill, a grey head, olive back with dark
streaks and pale grey below.
It is usually quite easy to see as it tends to perch on the top of clumps of grass or bushes.
|There are recordings on xeno-canto, a distribution map from NatureServe and additional information available via Avibase. There is also a page on Wikiaves.|
