|Moriche Oriole (Icterus chrysocephalus)|
|Parque Ecológico Lages, Amazonas, Brazil
The Moriche Oriole is found in eastern Colombia, Ecuador and Peru as well as south east Venezuela, the Guianas and Brazil north of the Amazon.
|As its name implies, it has a strong association with Moriche palms (Mauritia flexuosa) where it nests, suspending its basket nest from a palm frond. Away from the nest it is found at forest borders and in swampy areas.
It is black with the crown, shoulders, rump and thighs yellow.
