The Orange-fronted Yellow-finch is distributed in the Orinoco Basin, the central Amazon Basin and in the interior of eastern Brazil. See the distribution map at xeno-canto. It is usually found in bushes near water and sometimes around houses but not in towns.

Male Orange-fronted Yellow-finch, Manaus, Amazonas, Brazil, July 2004 - click for larger image It is similar to Saffron Finch but is smaller, has an orange forecrown and darkish lores. Females are olive-brown above and dirty white below. These photos are of the sub-species S. c. goeldi where both male and female have an orange tinge to the breast.
