The Pale-tailed Treehunter is a Brazilian endemic found in the Atlantic Rain forest of eastern Brazil. See the distribution map at Birdlife International. It is usually seen searching for insects amongst the leaves of bromeliads. |

| It is rufous brown above with streaking on the head and back. Below it is heavily streaked with brown on buff.
The bill is long and straight, it has a pale buff supercilium and the tail is bright
cinnamon.
Some authorities such as Clements and eBird lump it with Rufous-tailed Treehunter C. holti. |
