Itanhaem, Sao Paulo, Brazil October 2022 The Red-tailed Amazon is a Brazilian endemic restricted to a small strip on the coast of south-east Brazil from São Paulo through Paraná to north-east Santa Catarina. See the distribution map at xeno-canto. It is classified as Near Threatened because of its restricted area, trapping for the caged bird trade and loss of habitat from developments on the coast. |

On a daily basis most of these parrots move from their roosting and breeding sites in the littoral forests and mangroves inland to the Atlantic Rain Forest to feed. | |||
