The Scrub Blackbird is distributed in western Ecuador and Peru. See the distribution map at xeno-canto. It is found in the drier areas of scrub, woodland, gardens and agricultural areas up to about 1,500 metres mainly.

Joseph Ritter von Rawicz Warszewicz was a Polish-Lithuanian botanist and one of the greatest orchid collectors. He collected in Peru and Ecuador in the 1850s.
