|Blue-headed Parrot Pionus menstruus|
The Blue-headed Parrot is one of the most common parrots in tropical South America. There are three subspecies and this is a photo of the nominate subspecies. There is a distribution map on NatureServe.
|Note the blue head and the red undertail coverts. In flight it has a distinctive low wing stroke with the wings almost touching below the body. They are often found in large flocks.|
