Puerto de Chipiona, near Cadiz, Andalusia, Spain The Little Swift is resident in Africa south of the Sahara and in India and Pakistan. Some populations are migratory breeding in north-west Africa and the Middle East and wintering further south. See the distribution map at xeno-canto. They have recently expanded into southern Spain and these photos were taken at the fishing port of Chipiona where the birds were nesting in the roof of the port's warehouse. |

They are distinguished by the broad white rump which extends to the flanks and can be seen from below. The tail is square and broad at the base. The wings look broad in the centre but a bit pinched near the body. | |||
